Module 2: The Time Is Now

CASEL: Self-management

Learning objectives

Learn

Canvas is the official record and Canvas has a clock. A task that is not started is not neutral. Every day it waits, the time you have to do it well gets shorter and the pressure gets bigger. The Time Is Now is not about rushing. It is about starting while you still have room to do the work properly.

Get in the Zone is a skill, not a mood. A zone is a short block of time with one task, no phone, and a clear finish line. Twenty-five minutes on one module beats two distracted hours across four. The certification blocks on Monday and Wednesday exist so that you have a protected zone inside the school day.

Let Yourself Be Vulnerable means saying "I do not understand this" while there is still time to fix it. Learning hours run Tuesday through Thursday until 6:30 for exactly that reason. A student who asks on Tuesday has three days. A student who asks the night before the exam has an hour.

Worked example

Situation: An INT-1010 discussion post is due Friday. It is Monday.

Fixed response

Growth response

Why it matters: The second plan has two safety margins. The first plan has none. Late work is not accepted in INT-1010.

Mastery gate

Mastery gate — Module 2

Ten questions. 85% on the first attempt opens the gate. The retake in the same 24-hour window is practice.

Reflection

List the three tasks due this week across your courses. Next to each, write the day you will start it, not the day it is due. Keep the list on your phone. It is not submitted.

It is not submitted.

Dinner table question

Ask at home: Ask someone at home: what is one thing you wish you had started earlier? What would you tell yourself back then?

En español: Pregunta a alguien en casa: ¿qué es algo que desearías haber comenzado antes? ¿Qué te dirías a ti mismo en ese momento?
